Trader Joe's Candy Cane Green Tea (Polar Bear Tea) & Chocolate Peppermint Soy Milk

I know there are a bunch of food bloggers out there who are rolling out their favorite holiday cooking and baking recipes. Me? I'm going to start the holiday season by telling you things I like to BUY. :)

Here are two of my favorites: Polar Bear Tea and Chocolate Mint Soy Milk

While the official name is "Candy Cane Green Tea," I call it Polar Bear Tea. Trader Joe's sold it last year for the first time and it sold out in an instant. This tea is perfection for me; I don't drink caffeine, love decaf green tea and love peppermint. Score! When I saw it back in the store this year, I quickly picked up 6 boxes. 2 boxes are already gone. I need to go back. ($1.99 at Trader Joe's)

However, this year, I discovered this is Celestial Seasonings' holiday tea: Candy Cane Lane. Trader Joe's doesn't allow vendors to say they supply TJ's items (you should read this really good Fortune Magazine article: Inside the Secret World of Trader Joe's by Beth Kowitt). But the ingredients are EXACTLY the same. If you don't have a TJ near you (poor mija), then try the Candy Cane Lane from Celestial Seasonings. Personally, I think the Trader Joe's Polar Bear in Bridget Jones' worthy jumper chillin' out on the iceberg is cuter than the worker bee Celestial Seasonings bears.

My other favorite this holiday season is West Soy Chocolate Peppermint Stick Soy Milk. Yummy stuff for the lactose-intolerant or vegan. If you heat this up in the micro for a few minutes, it is delicious.

Finally, here is a note to retailers. I went to the mall on Thursday, November 18th (a full-week before Thanksgiving) and Santa was at the mall. The whole photo set up going on. This is so wrong. First, stores are still hawking 75% off Halloween stuff. Second, we were a week away from Thanksgiving! You need to wait til Thanksgiving. Third, Santa looked sooooo freaking bored. I think kids thought he was a creepy leftover Halloween costumed man hanging out at the mall, and not Santa. And, really, shouldn't he and his people be making all the toys during this time? Sigh. Come on back in January as I rant about the Easter Bunny set up.

[KÅ] Kaffebar

In Holbæk, about an hour west of Copenhagen, Henrik Roloff last year opened a small coffee shop with the intent to bring quality coffee to his home town. He's worked really hard on making the most of the small location, and did pretty much everything himself. The result is one of the nicest looking coffee shops I've ever seen in Denmark.

He's uploaded some pictures to his Flickr, that I just had to share with our readers.

You can see a few more here.

What you can't see (unfortunately) is his kick-ass Robur E and La Marzocco Linea. Good equipment for a coffee shop of that size. He's also serving french press and sells bags of whole beans. If you happen to be in Holbæk visit him at Smedelundsgade 2

Cartoon Ducks and The New World Order

There comes a time when we much face facts. I will say I didn’t believe it until I read the What is the Pyramid blog. It’s the Illuminati and there attempts in infiltrate our culture. Can you believe it, in this age, we could be so blind as to not see how they are attempting to brainwash our children? And I let it happen to my kids!

If I had only known I would have shielded the minds of my two young impressionable kids before it was too late. Both of them are grown now. They are adults. Am I a bad parent for letting their eyes gaze at the Disney movie, Ducktales?

Yes folks, open your mind to the clues that are systematically being left behind by the Illuminati! The Illuminati, if you don’t know is the power behind the throne, not just for the U. S. of A. but also for the whole world (and maybe beyond that). They are the shadowy figures that are steering us all into the New World Order!

The site, What is the Pyramid, clearly shows three frames from the 1990 movie. The first frame clearly shows an airplane on its side, tumbling towards the ground. How could I have not seen that as a warning to the upcoming 9/11 tragedy. The next couple of frames shows several Illuminati symbols scattered around in the background. There is the pyramid with an eye in the center and another which is a representation of the Sun! Beyond those two, we see, well, nothing really.

Now I thought the eye was suppose to be the Eye of Osiris or the Eye of Horus being that this movie is a treasure hunt in Egypt, but I guess if you put that into a triangle, it becomes a Illuminati symbols. And the Sun! Oh, crap!

Come on now! This is a kid’s cartoon in which the artist filled the Egyptian scenery with pseudo- hieroglyphics and these so called Illuminati symbols are just what someone would use for such a purpose.

Here is the big question . . . WHY!

OK, here is this secret organization with plans to control the whole planet for their New World Order and they are going to leave stupid symbols in kid’s movies? To what end? What is the point of being a secret organization if you are going to advertise it? I wish someone could tell me what is their motive? Brainwashing? Right! Apparently they have been leaving these for years and I’m not brainwashed . . . or am I.

Do you think, after 9/11, they all looked at each other in their top secret meeting place and thought, “We warned them about this in the Ducktales flick!”

This reminds me of the paranoid rambles of a certain General Jack D. Ripper about the Communist conspiracy!

“Do you realize that fluoridation is the most monstrously conceived and dangerous Communist plot we have ever had to face? Mandrake, do you realize that in addition to fluoridating water, why there are studies underway to fluoridate salt, flour, fruit juices, soup, sugar, milk... ice cream. Ice cream, Mandrake, children's ice cream.”

Hey Mr. Postman...

I Like Big Bundts 2010 - Buttons to send

I received this delivery from justJenn Designs (along with some yummy muffins).

Thanks to all those who made Bundts for National Bundt Day! I'm going through the emails and posts, and am so excited to see so many awesome Bundts...and great stories! One group of librarians and staff had a Bundt Day party! :)

I hope to start sending the buttons out this weekend and the epic round up of Bundts will go up early next week.

Just wanted to say THANKS for an awesome Bundt Day! - mary the food librarian

P.S. I laughed because my friend Jenn wrote "Mary" on the Ziploc bag these came in...just so she wouldn't confuse my order of 70 (yes, seventy) "I Like Big Bundt" pins with another customer's massive order. Hee hee. But do check out Jenn's stationery and other fun stuff. My favorite, besides the Bundt collection of course, is her new card that simply says, "You're Awesome." I'm sure we all have special people in our lives who deserve that card! Or, you can go Stuart Smalley, and send it to yourself.

Cidney with her Clifford Toy
And this photo of Cidney I took this morning? Nothing to do with Bundts, just cuteness!
